Perfect 👌 Let’s go to Lesson 3. This is where we move from exercises into your first simple song on piano! 🎶

🎼 Piano Lesson 3 – First Song: Mary Had a Little Lamb

We’ll only use 3 notes to start:

  • E (finger 3)
  • D (finger 2)
  • C (finger 1, thumb)

👉 Right hand only for this lesson.
Place your thumb (1) on Middle C, index (2) on D, and middle finger (3) on E.

2. Melody (Notes)

E – D – C – D – E – E – E
D – D – D
E – G – G
E – D – C – D – E – E – E
E – D – D – E – D – C

3. Rhythm

  • Each note = 1 beat (quarter note ♩)
  • When you see the same note 3 times in a row, keep the beat steady.
  • Count 1 – 2 – 3 – 4 while playing.

4. Practice Steps

  1. Say the notes out loud (E–D–C…) before playing.
  2. Play slowly, one note at a time.
  3. Once smooth, try singing or humming along while playing.

Practice Goal for Lesson 3

  • Play the melody smoothly, even if slowly.
  • Don’t worry about speed—focus on accuracy.
