Piano Lesson 2 – Left Hand & Both Hands
Nice! Let’s continue. 🎹
🎼 Piano Lesson 2 – Left Hand & Both Hands
In Lesson 1, you learned:
✅ Hand posture
✅ Finger numbers
✅ Finding Middle C
✅ Playing a simple right-hand exercise (C–D–E–F–G–F–E–D–C)
Now in Lesson 2, we’ll add the left hand and start using both hands together.
1. Left Hand Finger Numbers
In the left hand, the numbers are the same:
- Thumb = 1
- Index = 2
- Middle = 3
- Ring = 4
- Little finger = 5
👉 Place your Left Hand little finger (5) on the C below Middle C.
Your fingers will rest on C–D–E–F–G (same as right hand, but one octave lower).
2. Left Hand Exercise
Play slowly:
C → D → E → F → G → F → E → D → C
This is the same exercise as the right hand, but with the left hand.
3. Hands Together (Simple)
Now try:
- Right hand plays C, Left hand plays C at the same time.
- Then D + D, E + E, etc.
So both hands move up and down together.
4. Rhythm (4/4 Time)
Keep the same rhythm:
- Each note is 1 beat (quarter note ♩).
- Count 1 – 2 – 3 – 4 as you play.
✅ Practice for Lesson 2
- Play the left hand exercise alone.
- Then play both hands together slowly.
- Try to keep the hands even (same speed, same rhythm).
Would you like me to make a Lesson 2 sheet music PDF (with treble clef for right hand + bass clef for left hand), so you can practice reading both staves like real piano notation?
